Welcome to Forest Friends Plymouth

What is Forest Friends?

Forest Friends is based on the original Danish Forest School ethos Forest Friends is a woodland play scheme and environmental learning opportunity.

Children aged between six and fourteen can have a truly wild experience in the woods throughout the year at a woodland birthday party, holiday play scheme or forest school session.

Forest Friends gives children, families, youth organisations, and educational establishments the opportunity to learn, play, explore, and get close to nature in some beautiful woodland locations.

Why Forest Friends forest school?

Forest Friends encourages physical and social interaction, it teaches children how to have fun outdoors and learn and appreciate our natural environment.

Health and Safety

Forest Friends is run by fully qualified Forest School leaders holding Level 3 ONC certificates in Forest School leadership. All leaders are CRB checked and have first aid certificates and are fully insured.

Health and safety is paramount at Forest Friends with woodland sites being specifically chosen for their suitability. Daily risk assessments are carried out before a session begins, with regular communication between rangers working on site and the Forest School leaders.

Children attending any Forest Friends session are required to wear appropriate clothing for a day out doors whatever the weather. We expect that children may get muddy so old warm waterproof clothes are advisable. Long sleeved tops and full length trousers are ideal due possible contact with nettles, brambles etc. Footwear should consist of stout, enclosed outdoor shoes or Wellingtons.

All children are required to bring a packed lunch and drink with them on the all sessions other than a birthday party, unless otherwise agreed. Forest Friends provides fully supervised activities for each session, hot chocolate (or alternative), morning snack, marshmallows or popcorn and all necessary equipment.
