Welcome to Forest Friends Plymouth

Welcome to Forest Friends forest school a woodland play scheme and environmental learning opportunity.

Let your children have a wild and wonderful experience in the woods with us throughout the year at either one of the many holiday play schemes, birthday parties, forest school sessions, or woodland adventure days.

What is Forest Friends?

Forest Friends forest school gives children, families, youth organisations, and educational establishments the opportunity to learn, play, explore, and get close to nature in some beautiful woodland locations in the Plymouth area.

Why Forest Friends forest school?

In our modern society, children, and young people lead increasingly static indoor lives, which is potentially detrimental to health. Forest Friends encourages physical and social interaction, which helps improve the health and wellbeing of all who attend. It also teaches children how to have fun in the woods and to learn about and appreciate our natural environment.

Who can enjoy Forest Friends forest school?

Children, youths, and adults can all enjoy the vast range of activities, which run throughout the year, come rain or shine.

Health and Safety

Forest Friends forest school is run by fully qualified Forest School leaders holding Level 3 ONC certificates in Forest School leadership. All leaders are CRB checked and have first aid certificates and full insurances. Health and safety is paramount at Forest Friends with woodland sites being specifically chosen for their suitability. Daily risk assessments are carried out before a session begins, with regular communication between wardens working on site and Forest School leaders.

Useful information

Children attending any Forest Friends forest school session are required to wear appropriate clothing for a day out doors whatever the weather. We expect that children may get muddy so old warm waterproof clothes are advisable, as are long sleeved trousers and tops due possible contact with nettles etc. Footwear should consist of stout outdoor shoes or Wellingtons.

All children are required to bring a packed lunch and drink with them on all sessions other than a birthday party, unless otherwise stated. Children travelling from Plymouth across to Mount Edgcumbe Park on the Cremyll ferry will need change to pay for their own fare each way.

Forest Friends provides supervised activities for each session, hot chocolate (or alternative), morning snack, marshmallows or popcorn, all necessary equipment.

Forest Friends offers a variety of activities and programmes including

Wee baby birds, their Mum's they call
Leaves on the trees and flowers too
Peek out to say "hello" to you"
